If pre-season testing has already got you guessing (and second-guessing) about what's to come this season, there’s an easy way to lean into the thrill – F1 Fantasy.

F1 Fantasy is free, simple to pick up, and turns every practice run, pit stop and under-the-radar overtake into a chance for you to top global tables, or take on your friends and family in leagues of your own.

2026, a season made for F1 Fantasy

This is a great year to take part in Fantasy. With so many changes afoot, nobody is sure what the pecking order looks like yet, and that’s where there’s fun to be had.

The 2026 rules reset means teams are learning new cars, new strengths, new weaknesses and new ways to surprise each other. Add in new teams (Audi and Cadillac), and a grid that feels more open than it has in years, and you’ve got a recipe for a gripping Fantasy season.

What is F1 Fantasy?

F1 Fantasy is the official, free-to-play fantasy game for Formula 1. With millions signing up from across the globe, it levels up the fun of F1. Suddenly, you’re not just following one driver or team, you’ve got investment across the grid and more reasons to care about every twist, turn and late-session lap.

Here’s how it works:

  • You get a $100m cost cap to pick five drivers and two constructors.
  • Create up to three teams… Maybe you want one 'serious' team, one for the fun of the chaos, and one experiment, but it's up to you.
  • Once the season starts, you’ll have two free transfers per Grand Prix round for each team, so you can react without overthinking every move.

Your drivers and teams score points based on what happens across the real-life race weekend, so the results, positions gained, and key moments all feed directly into your Fantasy total. Make sure to keep a close eye on the season to stay ahead.

What’s new in Fantasy for 2026?

While the core game remains the same, 2026 brings a few tweaks that make playing smoother (and give you more ways to win).

Three teams, three chances to win

All three of your teams now have a chance to win in the global league. More flexibility, more chances to make the Fantasy podium.

Net Transfers (less admin, fewer regrets)

Your transfers now only count based on final changes, not every tap. So, if you swap a driver out and then swap them back before the deadline, it won’t automatically cost you twice.

F1 Sprint retirements sting less

A reduced Sprint DNF penalty (now -10) means one bad Sprint is less likely to impact your score.

And the core bits remain – choose your weekly x2 Boost driver, and use chips like Limitless, No Negative and Wildcard across the season to time your big moves.

Key Dates

The 2026 edition of F1 Fantasy is live now, which means you can build teams and set up leagues ahead of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix (March 6-8).

Not sure who to pick? Watch Free Practice on Friday to get your final insights. You can make changes to your teams right up until Qualifying begins on Saturday (March 7).

Leagues – Where the social buzz thrives

F1 Fantasy gets even better in groups. You’re automatically entered into:

  • Global League
  • Country League
  • Constructor League (based on your favourite team)
  • Driver League (based on your favourite driver)

And you can spark even more competition in your own private leagues. Join or create a league with your friends and family, a group chat, or even your workplace. Or take someone on in a head-to-head battle. You can even follow leagues, like our F1 Presenter League.

Keep an eye out through the season too. There are often themed mini-leagues with more chances to win.
