Sauber to skip Silverstone test
Sauber have confirmed they will not take part in the upcoming two-day in-season test at Silverstone, which immediately follows on from this weekend's 2016 Formula 1 British Grand Prix.
Sauber said the decision was based on 'cost-effectiveness' given that they will not introduce a new aero package for their C35 until later in the year.
The Swiss team also opted to sit out the previous in-season test at Barcelona in May, saying they had neither new updates to trial nor any young drivers that would fulfill the requirements of the test.
F1 rules state that, of the four days of in-season testing in 2016, two must be allocated to young-driver training, with a young driver being classified as someone who has competed in two or fewer Grands Prix.
As a result several teams will be running new faces during the two days - including Haas, who have called up Santino Ferrucci, and Force India, for whom Nikita Mazepin will be in action.
The test at Silverstone runs from 12-13 July, and is open to the public.
