Max Verstappen got the better start in the Spanish Grand Prix, blasting past polesitter Lewis Hamilton off the line and into the lead at Turn 1 – but it was the reigning world champion who had the last laugh, pulling off a brilliant two-stop strategy to take victory from his title rival.
The two drivers were battling hard throughout the race, as Mercedes pulled a surprise to pit Hamilton for a second stop, and the Brit then made the strategy work with some brilliant laps and what turned out to be a fairly straightforward pass on Verstappen in the final few laps of the race.

It was a tense, nailbiting race as the two title contenders duked it out at a track the drivers all know so well, but ultimately it was Hamilton who emerged on top to take his third win of the season.
