Max Verstappen was at his scintillating best as the championship leader outpaced Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to take pole position at Suzuka ahead of tomorrow’s Japanese Grand Prix.
Verstappen’s first attempt in Q3 was good enough to seal pole, with the Red Bull driver clocking a time of 1m 29.304s, to beat Leclerc, in second, by just 0.010s, with Sainz, in third, 0.057s off the Red Bull driver.
