McLaren’s Oscar Piastri enjoyed a phenomenal inaugural F1 campaign in what was the best rookie season since Lewis Hamilton. The Australian was crowned Rookie of the Year at the recent 2023 FIA Prize Giving ceremony and he earned plenty of plaudits as a result of his brilliant performances.
From his amazing P3 at the Japanese Grand Prix, to his spectacular weekend in Qatar – claiming a Sprint victory and a P2 in the Grand Prix – there has been plenty to celebrate for this young driver.
Following the conclusion of the season, F1 TV’s Laura Winter caught up with the 22-year-old at McLaren HQ to discuss his remarkable 12 months and the countless highlights along the way.
The pair discuss McLaren’s impressive turnaround mid-season, some of Piastri’s favourite moments from the year, as well as his hopes and ambitions for 2024 and much more.
