The Japanese Grand Prix returned to the calendar for the first time since 2019, and it was hard to tell who was more thrilled it was back – the drivers or the fans. Nicholas Latifi got slightly lost on Friday in practice, but more than made up for that with his first points of the season on Sunday. Mick Schumacher clattered into the barriers, leading to a big repair job for his Haas team. That incident was long forgotten by race day though, when he very briefly found himself in the lead.
